Die Tin Whistle / Penny Whistle wird mit den mittleren drei Fingern beider Hände gespielt - die linke Hand deckt die oberen Löcher ab, die rechte Hand die unteren. Weil es kein Daumenloch gibt, müssen höhere Töne durch Überblasen ("overblowing") gespielt werden.

In diesem Songbook werden Zahlen für die geschlossenen Löcher verwendet - "6" bedeutet daher alle sechs Finger decken alle sechs Löcher ab. Die Zählrichtung ist von oben nach unten - "4" bedeutet also vier Fingern von oben gezählt - die untersten beiden Löcher bleiben offen. Für den ersten Ton in der oberen Oktave - „Overblow“ - sind zwei unterschiedliche Griffweisen beliebt, "Overblow" wird mit einem Strich über der Zahl markiert.

The Tin Whistle / Penny Whistle is played with the middle three fingers of both hands - the left hand covers the upper holes, the right hand the lower. Because there is no thumb hole, higher notes must be played by overblowing. In this songbook, numbers are used for the closed holes - "6" therefore means all six fingers cover the six holes. The counting direction is from above - "4" means 4 fingers counted from above - the bottom two holes remain open. For the first note in the upper octave - "overblow" - two different fingerings are popular, "Overblow" is marked with a line above the number.
