ОглавлениеSo just what makes me an expert? I am an expert because I’ve been old a long time so I have a bunch of experience at it! I am age 83 at this writing. One needs to be older to be a senior. One needs to be experienced and seasoned by knowing youth, middle age and beyond. I have also written two magazine columns for five years. One was called “It’s Never Too Late” and the other was “Senior Comedy.” Both appeared in PrimeLife Magazine published in Cumberland County, North Carolina.
I have had the good fortune of getting a CAN as an in-home care aide. Before getting a CNA as in-homecare aide I fell four times in two years and was unable to get up without help. With the training, scrutiny and assistance of the CNA, the subsequent two years have been without falls. As with all my fellow seniors who are fall risks, we must reduce the risk of our danger. We need help. In my instance, I can truthfully claim that the watchful eyes and hands-on help I get from the CNA, and from my dear wife, are what have kept me safe.
I have also been a speaker at widows’ and widowers’ clubs and AARP chapter meetings and served as Chairman of a senior’s group called Senior Community Action Team (SCAT). I have written and produced, along with narrator Christopher Strong, three audiobooks called Fountain of Humor with jokes and risqué stories for seniors. The rest of my qualifications follow.
