Obituary

Ivor Woodall

(1959–2001)

Ivor Woodall died at his home in Observatory, Cape Town, on Wednesday, 25 September, aged 42. He was a renowned artist whose career spanned two decades and saw him exhibit in galleries across South Africa. He worked mainly in oils and is best remembered for his nudes. His last exhibition “Body of Evidence” was labelled controversial. Ivor will be remembered for his passion for art, his wit and his flair for delivering the unexpected and provocative.

An exhibition of Ivor’s work will be held at the Oval Gallery on 9 October. It will include his latest, as yet unseen, portraits.

Mr Woodall’s partner, Tony Fox, would especially like to extend an invitation to Ivor’s September life drawing class – to “view themselves” through Ivor’s eyes.
