You bowled me over, dear. I’ve never managed to get over it. Not sure if I want to.” His hand relaxed over hers but didn’t move.

“So I’m a mindless sex goddess, eh?” She liked the idea of the last half of that.

“Mindless, no. As for the other bit, I’d never dream of arguing with a lady.”

Tom could keep her smiling, if nothing else, but there was more, and she knew it. “I can handle being a sex goddess.”

“A goddess in black leather.” The look he gave was the next best thing to a leer, as he sat beside her and squeezed her hand. “How about we postpone the search for the source of your coat and repair to the Royal Oak to arrange a room for the two of us?”

“You’re staying?”

“Try stopping me.”
