This book is intended for the college or seminary age reader. The pieces and fragments of the “mosaic” are gathered from more than thirty years of teaching the New Testament. The reader will soon discover that the book reflects a point of view. Honesty in scholarship requires it. But so also does the New Testament itself. From its reader it intends a response that cannot help but affect its interpretation. The interpretation may be flawed, but the requirement stands. The message of the New Testament intends the assent of its reader if it is not to be truncated. Whether or not there is agreement with the point of view reflected here is quite another matter, but that there is a point of view answers to the requirement of the New Testament. My hope is that my answer is faithful, and that the reader will allow it!
