Dissolve ¹⁄₂ an ounce of nitre in ¹⁄₂ a pint of hot water. Procure some 12 lb. double crown blue; cut each sheet into four equal parts, 15 by 10. Lay them smooth upon each other, and, with a sash-tool dipped into the nitre solution, wash them over on one side, and hang them up to dry.
