The buying function is straightforward. After you have your MetaMask set up (see the steps in the earlier section “What’s In Your Wallet? Setting Up MetaMask”), you can head to the marketplace to find yourself a cute little kitty.

You can start by looking around on the CryptoKitties marketplace to find some CryptoKitties. They aren’t free (unless someone gives you one, a transaction that still requires that you have a wallet) and can cost between $3 and $100,000 — but you pay for them using ETH in your wallet.

To find a CryptoKitty and buy it, follow these steps:

1 Navigate to www.cryptokitties.co/search.

2 Browse the Kitties on the page, enter search terms at the top, or choose Kitty Type, Generation, and Cooldown.

3 Click Next at the bottom to see more pages of Kitties.

4 When you find a Kitty you'd like to buy, click the Buy Now button.A new page opens.

5 Double-click the Kitty you're about to purchase.

6 If everything seems in order, click the OK, Buy This Kitty button.You're prompted with a Dapper Labs transaction window. It asks you to set up a wallet (if you don’t have one) at www.meetdapper.com. If you decided not to get a MetaMask wallet, follow the instructions on the Dapper Labs page, and then return to ordering your Kitty.

7 Click the Submit button to purchase the Kitty.After you purchase a Kitty, it may take a couple of minutes to show up on your profile. The Ethereum blockchain needs to record the transaction and update the blockchain with your new ownership transfer, which all depends on the Ethereum network.
