CHAPTER 18 Introducing Ozzy
ОглавлениеBy ’60 The Homelan’s military budget had reached $45,800,000,000: 49.7% of its total budget.
And King Arthur, appointed Prez that year, immediately moved to increase that.
Then within 14 months he’d added another $9,000,000,000.
He also launched Alliance for Progress, a program that claimed to emphasize social reform in South America to better the lives of The Barbarians.
But in practice it was military aid to keep right-wing dictators in power and fight off impending revolutions.
By ’62, based on a series of made-up scares about Red military build-ups, The Homelan had achieved overwhelming nuclear superiority.
A permanent war economy ensured The Homelan’s wealth distribution remained locked in place.
And when King Arthur presented his budget after his first year in office, The NYT reported “. . . he has been trying to reassure the business community that he does not want any cold war with them on the home front.”
The conservative giants of Dallas all appointed each other to each other’s boards and intermarried, driven by a feral Capital-ist ideology that transcended party affiliation.
And Executive Order 11905, known as “The Assassination Ban,” stated: “No employee of the Homelan Government shall engage in or conspire to engage in political assassination.”
But these guys were absolutely OK with assassinating democratically elected foreign leaders.
They helped The CIA remove—or attempt to remove— Guatemala’s Arbenz, The Dominican Republic’s Trujillo, Congo’s Lumumba, Chile’s Allende, Cuba’s Castro, Indonesia’s Sukarno, Iran’s Mossadegh, and Vietnam’s Diem.
And they had their man inside La Casa Blanca: L-BJ.
L-BJ said re: Diem: “We killed him. We all got together and got a goddam bunch of thugs and assassinated him.”
King Arthur opposed The Oil Depletion Allowance.
And he bolstered civil rights, which undermined cheap labor.
Thus he bashed at the crux of these men’s wealth and power.
Pops burst into politics in the spring of ’62, voracious to obtain the status that Grandfather enjoyed.
Grandfather abruptly withdrew from his own senate re-eleccion campaign which was already well underway.
And he pulled aside The Party’s County Chairman to solicit a position for Pops.
The Chairman guaranteed him that everyone was keeping their eyes peeled for the exact right spot for Pops to land.
And then The Chairman stepped aside and Pops got his position.
In one year, Pops went from the sidelines to Finance Co-chair, then County Chairman, then US Senate hopeful; a career course as likely as shooting a polar bear in Mexico, everyone joked.
As both County Chairman and candidate, Pops had plausible reason to visit wealthy oilmen and assemble a team all over TX.
Pops has recently promised Moste that as soon as he becomes Prez he’ll appoint Moste to be the ambassador to Ireland.
This is a gesture of gratitude for Moste having worked on every one of Pops’s presidential campaigns.
And long before that, Moste also tried to convince Fxord that he should name Pops as his Vice Prez.
Fxord is the only person to’ve ever been Vice Prez and Prez sans eleccion to either position.
Nxn’s Vice Prez, Agnew, resigned after being indicted for receiving bribes from Maryland contractors, and Fxord was appointed.
And then, of course, Nxn resigned.
So Pops was almost appointed Vice Prez six years before he did get the job under The Actor.
Moste also worked in Nxn’s office, Nxn and Deen bouncing ideas off him.
But before that he was CIA, based in Dallas, debriefing people as they returned to The Homelan after time abroad.
He invited GDM to lunch in ’62.
Moste made no specific demands or requests of GDM, but he did give him the address of an ex-Marine just returned home from Minsk, suggesting that GDM might like to meet this young man.
He gave GDM the clear impression that he’d appreciate any information he could learn about this young man, Ozzy.
