ОглавлениеAs this book emerges out of routine and bizarre configurations of interactions with people, texts, objects, hunches and memories, I am not quite sure who and/or what to thank. To attend to part of my dilemma I would like to paraphrase the musician Sabu Martinez: I would like to thank all those people who know me now, all those people I have known in the past but no longer see, all those people I will know in the future and all those people I will never meet.
On a more substantive note, I need to thank Uwe Flick, the series editor. Thank you for your advice, confidence and patience. I also have to thank a whole congregation of colleagues, friends, undergraduate and postgraduate students who over the years have had to listen to me witter on about qualitative research. Generally, those talking and teaching moments have taught me a lot.
Finally, for endlessly demonstrating love, support and respect (and obviously lots of patience) and for introducing me to what it might mean to think and act with passion, intellect and wisdom, I have to thank my parents, Diane and Tony Rapley. This book is dedicated to them (and I am sure they were as surprised as I was when the boy who hated writing ended up doing this for a job).
