This refers to all those whom I met in countless discussions

about Europe – live or in TV or radio studios – in recent years.

It was ultimately these discussions with the Many

which made it clear to me that people in Germany

and elsewhere wish for a Europe that is completely different

from what we currently have,

and that there is a reason for writing this book.
