Hypnotism Misconceptions
ОглавлениеIf you think about it, hypnosis is basically a first person type of healing. Even in hypnotherapy, you’re not the one really doing the work. It’s the client who is doing the work.
When you talk to your client during their hypnotic state, you’re mainly acting as a guide for them to make their own choices. So, technically, as a hypnotherapist, you’re paid to help and not to actually do. Even so, communication is key.
If you mess up in your communication skills, you can potentially fail or damage your client and you’ll know why later. This is why it helps to have a good imagination at hand.
If you’re usually not a creative person, this might be hard, but there are always ways for you to further develop your imagination. Just do a little research and you’ll find it.
Remember what was said in the beginning of the book about how hypnosis might not be for everyone. Well, here’s another repeat of that fact.
Hypnosis will not work on everyone because there are some people who are literally immune to it. Yes, hypnosis is mainly words. However, not many people will be prone to those words, no matter how good of a hypnotherapist you are.
It’s not something to be sad about if it fails. It doesn’t mean you’re bad. It means that you need to find someone else. So don’t put yourself down because you couldn’t hypnotize someone. You’re not always the problem in this case.
Anyhow, there are only about eight important misconceptions worth talking about, simply because it’s a popular issue in the hypnotism world. You’ve might have even heard some of these misconceptions, which is why it’s on this list.
There are probably a lot more but those would be mainly questions your client might ask you anyway. If you know what you’re doing then you should be able to tackle any future questions from any client.
Stuck In Control
Don’t be amazed if one of your client’s questions might be something along the lines of, “Will I be under your control?” or something like that. Simply tell them no, but do it seriously.
Many people have this misconception that once they’re under your hypnosis, you’ll be able to control and take advantage of them. This only happens in movies.
Remember, this is reality and the logic of hypnotism is just as realistic as life is, which means no supernatural power exists. If your original goal was to somehow gain this mysterious power then that’s too bad because it doesn’t exist.
Besides, it is a fact that when you have a strong desire for something, you will do whatever you must to have it. So, if your client feels strongly about not wanting to be controlled by you then they won’t be.
Either way, you have no dominance over them. Of course, you should make this clear to your client, even without them bringing up the issue. This is because most people will use the fact that they were hypnotized to excuse their poor conduct. It’s possible and should be expected because people are always trying to get away with wrongdoing.
