Life had been great in so many ways for Thad and most of his friends, since those early days. Part of the joy of living Thad had found. What is life, if all the people you know and love can’t enjoy it? But life can be treacherous. Just when you least expect it, there comes a curve. Thad loved these moments of reflection and never seemed to wonder what would have happened if one thing or the other had not worked out. He seemed to be one of those people who knew innately that it would be okay! But there were moments that caused a bit more than heartburn surely the events at Shawnee Parkway had to rate right up there with life-changing events that never seemed to end.

“Thad, I have some very bad news for you!” Pearlman said. “They have found Mrs. Toddy. She was murdered at the house on Shawnee Parkway. One of the tenants, Kathy smelled the odor. They found Mrs. Toddy with a broken neck in the second- floor closet. Apparently Mrs. Toddy surprised the killer in the closet where he had a peep-hole”.

Thad grew violently ill. He ran to a small waste-paper basket and heaved, and heaved as the loud speaker warned, “Please get back into your chair!”

Hamilton did not hear the warning.
