1.1.3 Dependability Attributes and Evaluation Metrics
ОглавлениеA dependable system has a number of desirable attributes and some of the attributes can be used as evaluation metrics for the system. We classify these attributes into two categories: (1) those that are fundamental to, and are immediate concern of, all distributed systems, including availability, reliability, and integrity; and (2) those that are secondary and may not be of immediate concern of, or be applicable to all systems, such as maintainability and safety.
The availability and reliability of a system can be used as evaluation metrics. Other attributes are normally not used as evaluation metrics because it is difficult to quantify the integrity, maintainability, and safety of a distributed system.
