ОглавлениеSTITCHING PATHWAYS
As I mentioned in the introduction, Stitching Pathways is written by me, your quilting friend. Through Stitching Pathways, I‘ve tried to condense the tips and tricks I’ve learned in my years of quilting on my domestic machine.
I taught myself how to machine quilt feathers first, then I moved on to simpler motifs. I’m a firm believer that different quilters learn differently by taking different “pathways”. Stitching Pathways is written so that it can be picked up and opened anywhere. It doesn’t have to be read cover to cover. Simply find the topic that interests you at the moment and flip to the page to read up!
So what are you waiting for?
TECHNIQUES
Quilting motif possibilities are endless, and in Stitching Pathways, I’ll share stitching schematics of some of my favorites. If you have followed my Thread Talk posts on my blog, schematics are the hand-drawn sketches that show where I start stitching and how I progress through the design with my stitches.
Once you’ve started at the beginning of a design, arrows will direct your stitching pathway. “Breathing and resting points” are indicated by dots with numbers. Take advantage of these places. Stopping and taking a breath will help you relax, regroup, and get ready for the next line of stitches.
The colors change in the diagram as you stitch. All starting points will be a solid line with arrows and dots. When you’ve completed the first section, the solid line becomes a dotted stitch line and the next section becomes a new color. A color legend will help you see your stitch progression throughout the motif.
