Gracious Lord

To you I dedicate this work

You know my inner being

You know how unworthy I am

To be a vessel for your word

I do not claim greater knowledge

Nor do I claim a higher maturity

My sins are as dark

And my faults as deep

As any of my fellow human beings

My volition in this work

Is only in answer to your mercy

My claim to authorship rests

Not in being better than others

But in a conviction that wants

To declare you to the world

I believe in you Lord, God

And this conviction I want to share

In this submission is my volition

To strive ever to honor your name

And to hold it sacred before all

I offer my life, my future to you

With all its weaknesses

Its faults and its imperfections
