THE LULL

Poured into the little chamber: squalls of rain
Swept sheer from the Atlantic waste on blasts
That whirled all round the room and out again—
And in and out, until a wilder gust
Whipped the white coverlet from off the bed:
And then the storm dropped suddenly as though
Awed by the face of the untroubled dead.
