It's been a week of creating a vision. We’ve discussed things like: who you will be, what you see for yourself in the future and where you see the people around you. We’ve also begun writing in the past tense, like it’s already happened. I’d like to acknowledge you for getting this far. Some people may have started strong and stopped a couple of days in, others may have gotten through each day, but didn’t have time to really complete the activities. What today is about is a fundamental lesson in life. One that has guided everyone at one point or another. It’s also something that will happen every now and again as it is very important. Today we look at failure.

Failure is something we all go through at many times in our lives, but as we get older, the fear of failing grows more and more. Until we somehow create for ourselves that failure is no longer an option, so we would rather not even begin.

So let's be clear, you will fail often throughout this journal.

Failing is a good thing.

Actually, its a great thing and will be necessary before you can design the life you want. If you assume that doing exactly what you’re doing now will somehow get you to a different life, let's burst that bubble now. Doing exactly what you’re doing now, will get you exactly what you have right now. Doing something different will get you something different. This is fundamentally simple, yet extraordinarily hard to do.

Therefore today is not about creating anything, we will leave that to tomorrow. Today, review your previous entries, add to them if you need to. Start over maybe, take a day or two to redo something you felt you might have missed. Or, refine what you’ve been writing about all week, polish the important points and expand on areas you wish you had time to before. Take a break to look at what you’ve accomplished so far and take a moment to acknowledge that you’ve done some good work. Remember that the start of every journey begins with a few steps and you’ve just taken the first few towards an incredible new future of your own design.
