STORES

Оглавление

There is no storage form of protein as such, but the body is continually synthesizing protein from the pool of amino acids within cells and then breaking it down again. Unlike carbohydrate and fat stores, which can be more easily manipulated by dietary means, the amino acid pool is more tightly regulated to allow protein to be used preferentially for vital body functions other than energy. This makes the dietary manipulation of amino acid stores for muscle growth more challenging, which is probably why many athletes resort to alternative methods.
