A common answer to the question “What is our most important asset?” would be “time and money.” I am, however, convinced that the correct answer to this question should be “health.” What is the point of having plenty of time and money if you are not healthy, physically or mentally? And, being our most important asset, our health needs our care and protection. It is no coincidence that the oldest medical ethics principle, which is attributed to Hippocrates, a Greek physician traditionally known as the “Father of Medicine,” says: “Do no harm.” I would put this principle slightly differently: “Do no harm to your health and do not let others do it.” No matter how noble the intentions of a person may be, the means of their fulfillment should in no way jeopardize his or her most important asset – health. There is a famous saying: “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” In this book, “Make Your Body Slim and Fit Without Dieting, Fasting, Doing Sports, Counting Calories and Medications. Just Sleep and Lose Weight: A Revolutionary New Weight Loss Method,” I offer my opinion on various issues related to excess weight and weight loss, share my experience of losing weight and tell you about the “Just sleep and lose weight” method I invented. This method helped me both lose excess weight and take my body weight under my control. At the same time, I have to say that I am neither a medical worker nor a doctor. I do not give medical recommendations and only share my own experience and my personal results. I will tell you about the method I invented for losing excess weight, but you should always remember that we are all different. The state of people’s health cannot be the same, the body of each person is unique in its own way and requires an individual approach when we are advised on nutrition, medications, disease prevention, treatment, and, of course, weight loss. Dear readers, always keep this in mind not to harm your health in any way. This is why if you feel like putting anything from this book into practice, I do not recommend doing so without consulting authorized medical workers and without medical supervision.

In this book, an overweight person refers to cases where a Body Mass Index (BMI) is equal to or greater than 25.0 (BMI ≥ 25.0 kg/m²). Losing excess weight means reducing a person’s Body Mass Index (BMI) only to such a value when it is equal to 24.9 (BMI = 24.9 kg/m²). Weight loss below this value (BMI = 24.9 kg/m²) is not covered in this book.

Additionally, and I say this with utmost importance, I do not recommend taking measures to reduce excess weight for underage boys and girls, elderly people (due to the risk of losing muscle mass and suffering strength or bone density decrease), pregnant and lactating women, or people who are taking treatment (including for various gastrointestinal diseases).

People who suffer from type 2 diabetes and take medications to lower their blood sugar levels should be very careful to avoid hypoglycemia (a condition in which your blood sugar (glucose) level is lower than normal): When losing weight (which may be accompanied by a decrease in blood sugar levels), they should pay special attention to their blood sugar levels in order to reduce the dosage of medications taken to lower their blood sugar levels, if needed, in a timely manner and under appropriate medical supervision.

Lastly, bioelectrical impedance analysis scales (the so-called smart scales that not only measure your weight but also estimate percentages of your fat, muscle, and bone mass), due to the use of an electrical current, may be contraindicated during pregnancy, when having a pacemaker insertion, during menstruation, when having an increased body temperature, or in case of skin damages in places of contact with electrodes, as well as in a number of other cases.

There is no doubt that problems with our health often arise because of everything that is unknown to you, unfamiliar and not fully understood. So please, do not harm yourself and do not let others do it! Be mindful, cautious, and careful! Take care of your health!
