2. “When was autism discovered?”

In 1938, an Austrian doctor called Hans Asperger discovered autism. In 1943, an American doctor wrote a famous report about autism. Both doctors noticed some of their patients behaving in a way they had never seen before. They called the behaviour ‘autism’. Our ideas about autism have changed a lot since 1943 and there are still many things to discover about it.
