Other Conditions Treated with Vitamin B3
ОглавлениеAlcoholism—The use of vitamin B3 for treating alcoholics was first developed by Bill W., cofounder of Alcoholics Anonymous. He had observed its beneficial effect on himself and on thirty of his associates in AA. Because of his interest, its use for treating alcoholics spread rapidly. The best studies on thousands of patients were completed by Dr. Russell Smith.32
Depression—For some cases of depression, vitamin B3 is a valuable adjunct combined with proper nutrition.33
Senility—Vitamin B3, especially niacin, is very helpful in reducing the onset of senility, but it is only one component of a comprehensive program.34
Lupus Erythematosus (LE)—The author of The Sun is My Enemy, Henrietta Aladjem, describes the search for a treatment for her LE, which had been diagnosed and declared untreatable by Boston’s best physicians. She had heard of a physician in Bulgaria who had a treatment, and eventually she found him. He started her on parenteral niacin and she has been in steady remission ever since. A large number of LE patients use niacin as one of the treatments.
Leukoplakia—This is a precancerous condition of the throat. In Sweden, it was routinely cured with vitamin B3 and the cancer was prevented.35
