La maison a une petite fenêtre, the house has a little window.
La maison a deux petites fenêtres, the house has two little windows.
1. Pour former le pluriel des adjectifs, nous ajoutons s au singulier.
Un gros bâton, a big stick.
Deux gros bâtons, two big sticks.
2. Un adjectif singulier terminé par s ne change pas au pluriel.
FÉMININ DES ADJECTIFS
Jérôme a grand besoin d'argent, Jerome has great need of money.
La misère est grande dans la petite maison du petit Remi, poverty is great in the little house of little Remi.
1. Pour former le féminin des adjectifs, nous ajoutons e au masculin.
Jérôme est pauvre, Jerome is poor.
Mère Barberin est pauvre aussi, Mother Barberin is poor also.
2. Un adjectif masculin terminé par e ne change pas au féminin.
ACCORD DE L'ADJECTIF
Le petit Remi, little Remi.
La petite maison, the little house.
Les seuls amis de Jérôme, the only friends of Jerome.
Les seules ressources de la famille, the only resources of the family.
Avec un nom masculin singulier, nous employons un adjectif masculin singulier; avec un nom féminin singulier, nous employons un adjectif féminin singulier; avec un nom masculin pluriel, nous employons un adjectif masculin pluriel; avec un nom féminin pluriel, nous employons un adjectif féminin pluriel.
