This story is based upon true events. I dedicate it to the mighty Tacky and his fellow cane warriors of 1760, Toussaint L’Ouverture and his brothers who led the Haitian revolution in 1791, Fédon’s 1790s slave uprising in Grenada, the 1816 slave revolt led by Bussa in Barbados, Sam Sharpe’s Baptist War slave rebellion in Jamaica 1832, and to freedom fighters all over the world.
