I say “me and my markers” because my markers and I are tied together;

they’re an extension of me. If I had to choose between my family and my

markers, it would be a pretty tough choice . . . I’m just kidding, of course!

I’d choose my family. Then I’d go and buy all new markers. Win-win!

In all honesty, though, I would be lost without my marker collection. I use

them in all my color work in some way, whether it’s for backgrounds, adding

details, full-on coloring, or image creation and patternmaking.

My hope with this book is that you’ll also be able to use your marker

collection to do more than just color in your coloring books—that you’ll be

able to make those markers pay for themselves, so to speak. But keep in

mind that this book is not an end-all be-all guide to markers. This is more

of a guide to the markers I like and the different ways I like to use them. So

if you like the art you see in this book, you’ll like what I have to teach you!

Just in case you were wondering what my credentials are for teaching

you anything . . . I have none! Only a lifetime of practice doing what I love

and sticking to it. Oh, and 15 published coloring books (and counting!).

I’ve had no professional training in anything, so I hope that makes you feel

even better about you being able to color, too! I don’t do things by the

book, and while I realize I’m asking you to try doing things by

my

book,

by all means, do it your way!
