Copies of the returns for Guernsey are held by Her Majesty’s Greffier at the General Register Office, and for Jersey at the St Helier Public Library and Société Jersiaise: all returns for 1841–91 have been indexed by Jersey Library. There are also (indexed) censuses for 1806 and 1815, called ‘General Don’s muster rolls’. Those for 1806 list some 4000 heads of households with the numbers of people in their families, whilst those for 1816 list all men aged 17–80, with the numbers of women, boys and girls in their households.
