Foreword

How Do Women Pray?

Women’s prayers take many forms—some obvious, others subtle…and occasionally surprising.

We bow our heads and close our eyes as we pray for blessings, protection, and healing. Often, we drop to our knees as we seek to know God’s will. Sometimes we look up—to the clouds, to the moon, to the sunrise or sunset, to find spiritual connection with Heaven above.

Many of us quiet our bodies and our minds in meditation—searching for our higher selves, the indwelling God, the inherent goodness that resides deep inside.

And perhaps most importantly, we often gather with kindred spirits, fellow seekers, to pray in community—for we know that the Kingdom of God isn’t just within us, it is among us. Wherever two or more are gathered, God is there. We find the wisdom, guidance, security, strength, insight, meaning, comfort, and love that we yearn for whenever we pray together.

This slender volume you hold in your hands is a wonderful collection of prayers by and for women—old and young, from many walks of life, from near and far, from past and present. In gathering this collection, the author invites you to add your own prayers, too.
