Grounding

Why good grounding is important

What’s special about an incarnation on the Earth is that here we can develop spiritually while being in a physical body at the same time. Being in a physical body means that we feel isolated and separated from each other. But spiritually, we can move to other levels where the consciousness of oneness and connectedness with all things exists. That’s why life as an Earth person offers us time and time again the unique opportunity to choose whether we want to feel separated or not – we can switch back and forth between unified consciousness and separated consciousness. That is the special and fascinating thing about inhabiting a physical body here in the third density: we perceive ourselves as a multidimensional being that lives simultaneously in the physical and in the subtle. That’s something that isn’t offered very often in the universe.

However, it is important to be well grounded here. This is the prerequisite for the soul to be able to dock onto all the cells of the body and use the body fully. We all consciously decided to take on a three-dimensional physical body in order to be able to inhabit and use it here on the Earth. Our body comes from the Earth and is therefore also connected to the Earth. A good grounding forms the foundation of our incarnation on which our existence is built, here in three-dimensionality. It’s like a house: we can’t build a solid house without a good foundation.

A lack of grounding can be recognised by the fact that the person concerned is constantly daydreaming, for example, and somehow “unavailable” at times – as if they were not fully present on the physical plane. It may really be that the soul is not completely inside its physical body, but is dancing around outside the body a few meters above the person’s head. In some cases, this lack of grounding is an escape because that person can’t cope with today’s society. Traumas, shocks or accidents from the past are also a frequent cause of the soul not wanting to completely incarnate physically in the following life, so as to avoid having to experience these injuries again at close quarters.

Besides daydreaming and mental absence, signs of a lack of grounding include: low body awareness, perception disturbances, weak physical manifesting power, retreating and isolation from other people, difficulties with social structures, little basic trust, low self-love or statements like: “I never really arrived here” or “I’m never really understood by the world”.

In our spiritual development, there comes a point at which progress is only possible if we’re fully grounded. Expansion of consciousness and holistic development doesn’t only involve a connection upwards, to the spiritual spheres, but also downwards into the heart of the Earth. This is essential if we’re to function and act in an optimal manner as human beings. The soul has to be one hundred percent integrated into its physical body if it’s going to be able to implement on the physical level all that it has set itself in its soul plan. Both are therefore necessary: that we’re physically well grounded and that we connect subtly with higher energy levels. This is the only way we can fully fulfil our soul plan. The better we’re grounded – that is the deeper we’re anchored in our physical body – the higher we can move upwards into the subtle spheres. This is because a good grounding allows us, firstly, to vibrate more beautifully and harmoniously, and secondly, to have a stable anchor point so that, after excursions on the subtle level, we can land again properly each time in three-dimensionality. However, being well grounded doesn’t mean becoming the element earth ourselves, because that would slow our vibration down again. Grounding ourselves well simply means that we connect to the energy of the Earth.
