There is / There are


there is/are, nicht it gives

Wenn wir sagen, dass es etwas gibt, gebrauchen wir im Englischen there is (Kurzform: there’s) und there are, nicht it gives.

there is + Einzahl (z. B. a …. an )

There is a problem.Es gibt ein Problem.
There’s an Italian café in this street.Es gibt ein italienisches Café in dieser Straße.

there are + Mehrzahl (z. B. two …)

There are two problems.Es gibt zwei Probleme.
There are over 50 shops in the outlet centre.Es gibt über 50 Geschäfte im Outlet-Center.
There are no taxis.Es gibt keine Taxis.

Verneinung: there isn’t / there aren’t

There isn’t much to see.Es gibt nicht viel zu sehen.
There aren’t many tourists.Es gibt nicht viele Touristen.
