Choose a repeat flowering rose – the vertical growth can be trained close to a wall to take up less space. It will give you blooms from late spring to autumn.
SWEET PEAS
Autumn sown sweet peas can be planted out as plugs in the spring. 12 plants trained up a wigwam will give you flowers every other day for two months once they’re get into their stride.
PERENNIAL BULBS
Narcissi, muscari, allium and fritillaria–plant them in clusters where you have suitable free ground – some varieties will happily naturalise in grass.
