GROWING ELSEWHERE
ОглавлениеThe key to ensuring a small patch is as productive as possible is to start seedlings and plants off elsewhere in your garden. That way, instead of sowing seed directly you can plant seedlings to cut down the harvest time between one crop and another.
GUTTERS OF SEEDLINGS
Direct sow annual seed into rainwater gutters and grow them in another part of your garden. Use them to fill in any gaps created when you pull up any spent annual plants or bulbs.
SEEDLINGS IN POTS
Grow on half-hardy seedlings such as the climbers cup and saucer or black-eyed Susan in small pots so that you have good-sized plants that will take over from the last sweet peas and give you flowers right up until the first frosts.
START DAHLIAS OFF IN POTS
Get ahead on the season by potting up dahlia tubers undercover – so you have decent sized plants when they are ready to plant out after there’s little risk of frost.
