SOWING DIRECT

Оглавление

You can direct sow hardy annuals in spring and/or autumn and some half-hardy annuals in early summer. It’s super easy – it’s all about preparation.

Dig and rake the soil over, breaking up any clods of earth and getting rid of any large stones – you want the soil to resemble the fine topping of a fruit crumble. Tread the soil down by walking over it once or twice in your boots, to get rid of any air pockets. Then you’re ready to sow. Follow the instructions on the seed packet but bear in mind the spacing distances recommended on page 56 when you come to thin out the seedlings.
