No position has transformed more rapidly and left more in its destructive wake than that of the Marketer. In fact the skill set has changed so quickly that most companies don’t even know they’re outdated. Sure, sales may be steady and profits may be hanging in there for some, for now, but this will change without the proper talent in place to drive through the tumult. Your firm must hire right to catch up and have an excellent guide through the modern marketing battlefield.
The new marketing leader is adept at sniffing out trends, skilled in web research and business intelligence gathering, and comfortable with online collaboration tools. He is capable of project management for both internal and external resources, able to communicate in all forms including audio, video, visual, and written, has skills in leveraging social and interactive tools to build audiences, and he must know enough about technology to set expectations and manage results.
The MultiThread Marketer is a strategic ring leader of sorts. While he need not be an expert in all areas, exposure to these key areas, skills, and processing, and working through them with partners is critical.
