Chapter 1 – Scary times for Daisy and Ollie

Оглавление

Oink, oink and howdy, friends, It's me, little Daisy Pig, your forever friend. "There's no place like home," I squeal, clicking my little pig's feet together, like Dorothy, from "The Wizard of Oz." My forever home is beautiful, and I'm feeling pretty, pigtastic! Being home again on Hank's farm is a dream come true for Ollie and me. I love this farm and everything about it. My brother Ollie Pig loves it here too!

Cock-a doody, Hank's loudmouth rooster woke me up. He wakes me up every morning here on the farm. I call him my "big birdy" alarm clock. It's weird, though, because Ollie and I are the only ones in the barn who gets up. The rest of our barn buddies roll over or stretch their lazy, furry bodies. The only thing that moves that crew is when they smell food. They perk up real fast, happily slurping, gulping, crunching, and munching their meals. If Hank and Stella plant it, the barn beasts will eat it. Honestly? that includes Ollie and me, tee-hee!

It's a sunny day, so I'm taking my early morning walk. Walking is an excellent exercise for my piggy waistline. Today, I'm wearing my forest green sunglasses and my green straw hat. I like dressing up when I step out. I stop by a clear water pond to check myself out. I like what I see.

"Good job, Daisy," I tell myself, looking pretty piggy perfect. If I could, I'd like to look like the famous Miss Piggy. She is gorgeous, plus she's a girl pig superstar! It's not easy to look like Miss. Piggy on a farm, but I do my piggy best. I walk ahead and notice Ollie, my curly tail twin brother. He's already relaxing in his favorite mud hole, munching on an apple. Ollie is wearing his ugly farmer suit, as usual. He thinks it's comfortable and Ollie always chooses comfort over style. Being a smart, friendly pig is good enough for Ollie. He's cute, but his ugly farmer's suit is not.

Now, I walk over to Ollie. "Hey bro, get your body out of your mudhole and walk with me, please? It's such a perfect day for a walk with my best pal," I squeal. "I don't think so, sis; I think I'll sit here and think before breakfast." Ollie is always thinking. It's so annoying! "There's nothing to think about this early, I squeal. Ollie ignores me now. "Piggy, please, Ollie?" I beg. "Piggy no," Ollie grunts, laughing at his own not funny joke. "Oh, never mind, piggy party pooper," I grunt. I leave my little brother and continue my walk, alone.

I'm not an angry pig, though; I know Ollie is not a morning pig. Our forever home is peaceful and quiet this time of the morning. I check myself out in another pond and put on lip-gloss to keep my lips moist. It's always more comfortable when I'm alone, without animals squawking or balking at me. It might surprise you to learn that; we have bully behavior even on the farm, especially in our barn.

Some of the goats and sheep like to laugh at me when I sing to them. That is rude and unkind, but I keep singing louder and louder to drown out their giggling. Sometimes they laugh at my outfits. "What is Ms. pig wearing," they baa, bray, and neigh. I don't care what they think. I still love them. Sometimes, it's fun to add glamor to my barn roomies, but they are an ungrateful bunch. One time, I tried to untangle our Angels hair. It was a matted mess.

Angel is our new Alpaca, but she doesn't always display angelic behavior. I barely started combing her hair when Angel screamed directly into my ear. She sounded like a siren! I wasn't expecting it, so she and nearly scared me to death! We were both angry with each other for a while. Whenever we saw each other, Angel covered her head, and I covered my ears. "Get over it; you guys know you're still friends," Ollie snorted. We both apologized, so that drama is over, pigtastic!

One time, I put lipstick on our goat Gigi. Gigi didn't like the color because she kicked me! Thankfully, it didn't hurt, and she looked cute, so we're still good barn buddies.

Anyway, I love my curly tail twin, no matter what. He's not a bully! Ollie's a kind, and thoughtful pig, like Wilbur, from "Charlotte's Web." Now, I'm walking and looking all around. "This place is pigtastic!" I squeal. I'm smiling, inhaling, exhaling, slowly and deeply. No, I am not doing yoga, but I do practice karate sometimes. So far, though, I only know how to do fancy kicks. I'm teaching myself just in case I need to defend myself against barn bullies. I love strolling and sniffing the farm air since I have excellent sniffing skills. Ollie calls me inspector super snout! He cracks me up sometimes.

I love the smell of the grass, fruit, and fruit trees on our farm. Other stinky smells that the goats and other animals leave behind, not so much. When I Step in it? Yuck! Hank's farm has sweet-smelling strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, peppers, fruit trees, and herbs on his farm. The farm is Ollie's and my piggy's garden of goodies. We could never find such treats in the wild. Oh, look! I'm clicking my pig's feet again, snorting, "There is no place like home!" Honestly? I can't help it; I love it here.
