In the Meadow of Light
CHAPTER 3, Where Lucy and Grace Pray Together
Оглавление“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16—18
“Mommy!” Hallo-ow! Are you here?” Lucy’s voice, soft and quizzical, startled Grace.
“Sorry, daughter, yes, I am here. I was thinking of Mrs. Weldy. You know, she is so proud of you. She writes in her journal whatever you say about the different worlds.”
“You see, mommy, she believes me! Please try too!”
“I’ll try my best… as much as I can. Will you tell me tonight what else happens in your dreams?”
“Yes mommy, I will. We will escape to the Kingdom of Grace together!” Lucy smiled.
Grace knew Lucy did not imagine her dad and sister, though she didn’t dare to tell daughter the truth as it was too unreal to understand. The truth that Grace knew wouldn’t leave Lucy much hope. To Grace it seemed nearly impossible if they would ever be back to the same Meadow of Light. The truth was Grace and Lucy lived in the different world – world where Sonya and Ray never existed.
What a quaint fantasy to travel together into a dreamland, the world, where Lucy met Ray and Sonya nearly every night, Grace thought. This idea was compelling to her. She decided it would not hurt to imagine the beautiful dream together. And what if there is something more than just imagination? Perhaps it could give them some clues, and maybe… what if they find Ray and Sonya, wherever they are?
“Did you know that many discoveries were made during sleep? Grace asked. “Thanks to the dreams, we now know about DNA, chemistry elements, sewing needle, and much more? There is certainly a good chance we will make a discovery as well when we dream together. Let me think what we can do. I want to imagine right away,” she continued playfully in a pretend masculine voice. “Why is it the Kingdom of Grace …Why? Am I the king there?”
Grace stood up, protruded her jaw, and showed her biceps, remembering the acting classes she had in school. Walking around the kitchen with a wide, man-like (as she thought) steps and rolling eyes fiercely, she continued, “I am the king! King of the Kingdom!” Despite of the attempts, the biceps remained tiny, and the wide steps did not look man-like, and the voice was falsetto. Lucy finally burst into giggles.
“Where is my royal scepter?” Grace inquired, doing her best to keep a serious expression. She brought her thin eyebrows together and repeated in the same falsetto, “I said, where is my royal scepter?”
Lucy, who by this time was fully engaged in the play, ran to the closet and got two golf clubs, another reminder of her dad Ray. She handed one of the clubs to Grace, and kept the other. With giggles, she followed Grace around the kitchen and then to the living room, while each proudly moving their golf clubs up and down, up and down as if real scepters in a royal ceremony. After two rounds Grace announced, “Me, the king of the kingdom of the coolest people in the world, now ready to close the royal ceremony and kindly advise you to get ready for your royal duties.”
Lucy, who was impatiently waiting to say it, finally blurted out with a laugh, “No, mommy, you are the queen. Father is the king. He gave your name to the kingdom, because he loves you! And in fact the royal ceremony is not over, it is just the beginning!” she improvised. “Please be ready for your coronation, your majesty!” Lucy hurried to the bedroom to came back with a toy diadem, bought long ago at a carnival. “Here, mommy, now you are the queen! Let me put it onto your head!”
Soon the scepters were set aside and the diadem, shining with all the pomp of the fake diamonds, was fixed on Grace’s head. Lucy looked her over and, satisfied with the result, said: “You are so beautiful, mommy! In the Kingdom of Grace, you’re the queen, for real.” Then she looked into Grace’s eyes very seriously, not laughing anymore, “I truly believe my daddy and sister are there, in the kingdom, mom. They got stuck in there! But there is a way to come back. And there is a way for us to come there!”
Well, perhaps where is the way in, there shall be the way out, Grace agreed, but didn’t say it out loud.
“I have an idea, princess. Let us say a little prayer,” she asked. “Will you let me say it, please?”
She held her hand to her daughter.
“Yes mom, I want to pray for dad and Sonya to be with us again.”
They sat on the couch, holding hands, and closed eyes. Grace started to pray:
“Dear Heavenly Father.
We know, you love Lucy and me.
We know, you love Ray and Sonya.
We dedicate ourselves to you.
We believe in everything good in ourselves. We believe in everything good in other people.
We believe in miracles, good, kind miracles that will start to happen from now on.
We dedicate ourselves to help you to create the good, kind miracles through the power of your love, grace, kindness and wisdom.
We believe that all loving people will be together again, whatever happened in their lives and whatever challenges had separated them.
We believe that Lucy, Ray, Sonya and I will find one another today and be together from now on, through the power of your grace, love, kindness, and wisdom.
We are ready to grow stronger in our faith through the power of your love, grace, kindness and wisdom.
Our words are true. We love you.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.”
“Amen,” Lucy echoed, and opened her eyes.
“Mom, I believe very, very hard that we shall meet my dad and Sonya today and be together!”
“Then it is the time to get out and see, what we may find out. Do you remember where we usually go on Sunday?”
“Of course, I do,” Lucy wrinkled her nose. “We are going to church. And, that means Mr. and Mrs. Cosmos will be there and I will have chance to chat with Tonya and Anthony.”
