MENTEE’S ANECDOTE: This is the first year Sara and I have accomplished a significant amount of our goals. It’s odd how far we’ve come as a pair since my first year in the program: from struggling to get a table at the Central Library in Queens, to loud, crowded Union Square cafés. My writing has matured since then, and I am happy that I got to spend the last three years with Sara as my mentor helping me along the way.

MENTOR’S ANECDOTE: Rachel is one of the most determined writers I know. When she isn’t exactly sure what she wants to say, she keeps returning to the piece or the topic until she figures it out, even when the subject matter is difficult. Watching Rachel persist with her writing over the last three years has helped me learn how to persist with my own.
