Cultural and educational services

Оглавление

After 2010, low-income families could not afford private cramming school lessons, deemed necessary for pupils preparing to take university entrance examinations. Volunteering high school teachers founded ‘social cramming schools’ where pupils took lessons for free. Another informal group focusing on culture and community work was the “Atenistas”. It first appeared in Athens in 2010 and then spread to another 11 cities. The “Atenistas” engaged in cultural events and recycling, combined with maintenance work in run-down streets and squares of Athens.
