Diagnosis

Оглавление

The diagnosis is mainly established on clinical findings

In DSM‐V, ADHD is included in the section on neurodevelopmental disorders, rather than being grouped with the disruptive behaviour disorders – this change better reflects the way ADHD is currently conceptualised

DSM‐V has also revised the age of onset criteria to ‘several inattentive or hyperactive‐impulsive symptoms present prior to 12 years’ (5 years later than the 7‐year‐old marker set by DSM‐IV)

Furthermore, there is no longer the requirement that the symptoms create impairment by age 12, just that they are present

ADHD subtypes include:Predominantly inattentivePredominantly hyperactive–impulsiveCombined subtype

It may be further classified as mild, moderate or severe
