It’s better to look after your health than to cure illness

After 40 years of experience and welcoming thousands of patients to my detox centre, I have decided to write this book to share my thoughts and knowledge on the subject of detox, vitality and achieving harmony through your weight. My way of working is to keep things constantly updated and refreshed according to new scientific developments.

This scientific supervision is carried out by the Academy of Biontology which I set up in the spa town of Merano, northern Italy. But what is biontology? It is the study of the essence of life and its evolution – ‘bio’ meaning ‘life’, and ‘ontology’ referring to the area of metaphysics that deals with the nature of being.

Everyone deserves to benefit from the results of our experiments. Over the years, my colleagues and I have given thousands of lectures, and at Merano we suggest many sources of information to our patients – I firmly believe that people who come to the academy shouldn’t just be content to go through a treatment, they should understand it in depth in order to gain the best results.

The right to know is of prime importance, as it’s the only way in which we can respect our freedom as individuals. Once we fully appreciate each situation, we can take responsibility and make informed choices and reasoned decisions, which is vital when undertaking any changes related to our health. I’ve seen too many patients believing any old theory and acting in any old way and putting themselves in danger through sheer ignorance. Today, in developed countries, our methods of communication and teaching are ever more effective, and everyone should have access to this knowledge. Teaching people about health should start as early as primary school.

Of course, knowing about something doesn’t necessarily mean knowing how to do it. This calls for even more in-depth knowledge. Unfortunately, too often this know-how comes in the form of ready-made, impersonal and generalised approaches which pop up time and again in the new-year and spring issues of magazines. It’s as if there are as many diets as there are high-street fashions, and you can change them according to how you feel on a daily basis, but lots of these diets can represent real dangers to our health. Dietetics on the other hand is not a passing trend; it’s a serious science that progresses and evolves.

This book aims to increase our knowledge and understanding of ourselves.
