MONA’S RAINBOWS
Оглавление‘In August 2002 my dear friend Mona passed away. I feel she has sent me many signs.
A few weeks later I hired some videos. I hadn’t really thought about my choices but was surprised at the coincidences I had found. One was the film Pearl Harbor, and Mona and her recent boyfriend had taken a trip to Hawaii when she found out her cancer was back. Both of them had really wanted to see Pearl Harbor.
The other movie I picked up was The Judy Garland Story. Well, I never even thought about this until she started singing the song “Somewhere over the Rainbow”.
I cried buckets after this; you see Mona refused to make plans for her funeral but she did say she wanted this song. I hadn’t known it was a special song for Mona and I have always loved it myself. It was one of my favourite songs, and one I sang when I was little and pretending to be a singer.
Then in September I went to visit my friend Carol. It had begun to rain but when I got there, Carol called from the kitchen for me to come and see the beautiful rainbow. Because of the rain we were unable to have our planned bonfire, so our other friend Rosemary (a jazz singer) started singing in the living room. Since I had to get back to town to meet my friends, she asked me if there were any songs I would like her to sing. She didn’t know the ones I picked or have the music, but she said she had a song in her head all day as she was driving over. She began singing “Somewhere over the Rainbow!”
Later, when I left, I noticed it wasn’t wet anywhere else. It was like it had only rained over her house!
About a month after this I visited friends in hospital; they are also singers. I was telling them about this and they said they had seen the rainbow too. They live by a lake and were out walking on the nearby train track—the rainbow they saw was big and bright and lasted such a long time.
So I feel now whenever I see a rainbow that it’s a message from Mona and she’s okay.’
