ОглавлениеSlaying Giants
In Genesis 6:4 we read: “There were giants in the earth in those day; and also after that when the sons of God came in unto the daughter of men, and they bared children of them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. ““And there we saw the giants the sons of Anak, which come of the giants; and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” [Numbers 13:33] “That also was accounted a land of giants: giants lived therein in old times; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummins;” [Deuteronomy 2:20] “And the coast of Og King of Bashan, which was of the remainder of the giants, that lived at Ashtaroth and at Edrel.” [Joshua 12:4] In these scripture readings we establish that Giants did indeed exist, having children of normal women, who gave birth to these giants, off springs who themselves became mighty men, of renown abilities and height. The children of Israd stated they were as grasshopper compared to the Anak people, and the Ammonites Labelled them as Zam-Zum-mins, whatever that means, I honestly don’t Know, if you do please enlighten me.
Now let me switch, a bit, in this lesson giant or giants is use as any large obstacle, burden, problem, situation, circumstance that seem so insurmountable—your anxiety, fear, depression, worry, such as you may be in a situation at home with your parent or parents, that it seems to you they just don’t get it, causing you to act out rebel act the downright fool, run away, feel contempt, hatred, even that you’re not love. This has become a giant in your life, that’s really stressing you out. Or Maybe on the Job situation with a coworker or your boss may have arised as an insurmountable Giant in your life causing a lot of unnecessary drama within your employment, seems like you’re on the verge of being fired or let go, what are you to do? It may be a situation with your wife or husband that started as a little thing, mistake, or something you did or didn’t do, a word or statement out of place, you might have forgot the time, date or place of something they thought was important, or forgot to pick them up eccettra, causing these or this giant problem, situation or circumstance in your life, dominatingly, over bearing in your relationship. This is a giant.
You may be having problems with the in laws, friends or associates allowing the giants of the land to challenge your very existence, even financially giants come as debts, mortgages, unpaid loans, insufficient credit, short at the check-out counter and having to put items needed back, the unruly toller, or nagging adolescent, the problematical vehicle with a different problem every time you turn around, In and out of lock up, trouble with the law. These are Giants in the land, trying to control your life by causing you to be fearful, stressful, discouraged, discontent, cowardly but in First Chronides 26:4–8 which reads “And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechal, the Hush athite stew sippai that was of the children of the giant: and they were subdued. And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath, the Gittite whose spear staff was like a weaver’s beam. And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great statute, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each foot and he also was the son of a giant. But when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of shimea, David’s Brother slew him. These were born unto giants in Gath: and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.” It seems like the more you overcome one problem, circumstance or situations another pop’s up, we are forever trying to defeat the giants like David and his in our lives. Let’s go to First Samuel, Chapter 17; verse 5 reads: “And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: there was a valley between them.” Your problems are built up as mountain that you are able to stand on and see the Mountainess giant problems that confront you on the others side, even though there’s a lot of lows in between, You become face to face with your giant problems, situation circumstance, no matter the up’s and down in between, you must climb above your mountain or situation, until you are on top of it. Then What happens [verse 4] And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistine, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. (5–6) And he had a helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass, and he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders, (>) and the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s had weighed six hundred shekels of iron; and one bearing a shield went before him.”
Your problems, situations, circumstances come well protected from your normal assault, it would seem as they are unpenitiatable, carrying enormous weight causing you not a moments of rest, Just the sight instills awe, confusion and fear and before you can get to the problem, there’s another shield of protection before it, that you must overcome in your effort to slay the giants in your life. Verse 8 says: “And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, why are you come out to set your battle in array? Am not I a Philistine, and you servants to Saul? Choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me. (9) if he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, them will you be our servant and serve us. (10) I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man that we may fight together.” In other word why are you trying to find a solution to your problem, situation, circumstance where there is none, You’re weak, worthless and unable not only to fight me, but you can’t even stand before me, Your problems, your situations, your circumstances are going to take your down, and kill you, if you won’t commit suicide, I defy any solution you think you can come up with, I’m bigger than your remedy, I’m a Giant you can’t slay, but if you think you can bring it on, make me bow down before you, make me eat my words, make me leave your alone, if you can. [Verse 11] “When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.”
We have a tendency to let our problems get the best of us, to bring us down, to stress us out and instill fear in us, sapping our courage in the face of the problem, situation, circumstance, we coward in the face of danger. Skipping down to verse 16: “And the philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself forty days.’
Some of us been in fear of our grants more than forty days, suffering under the threat, conditions, circumstance, situations, problems, morning, noon, night, day in and day out, months or years at a time, our circumstance won’t let us rest until we fight or make up our minds to confront our giants on the opposite mountains that’s trying to defy and bring us down with defeat. In verse 23. “David heard Him” We need to come to a place of hearing and recognition of our problem, situation or circumstance before we can start looking or finding a solution to defeat our giants. In verse 26: “David spoke to the men that stood by him, saying, what will be done to the man that kill this Philistine and take away the shame from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the Living God?
After David was made aware of the threat, he didn’t even consider his Largeness; meaning we shouldn’t even dwell on the size of our problem. David had no doubt he could get rid of the problem and restore honor to Israel, we must not doubt ourselves or our abilities, to overcome and defeat our situations, circumstance or problems that defy the will, peace of God in our lives going to verse 32, David told King Saul’ “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.”
Notice, David is not looking at how big he is or all the protection he has or the weapons he’s carrying or even the shield bearer before him, he sees him as only another Philistine insignificant piece of trash in the way at progress, we too need to look at our giants as insignificant messes of obstruction, once our minds decrease the size, weapons, dangers, drawbacks, and began viewing the solution. Looking at the possible outcome, shedding doubt of our inabilities and strengthening our abilities to overcome in the battle that we put in array.
Sure they may say we’re too young or lack experience, but look at what David replied to Saul when Saul said, you are but a youth and he’s a man or war verse 33.
“David said unto Saul, your servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear and took a lamb out of the flock and I went out after him, and smote him; and delivered it out of his month; and where he arose against me, I caught him by his beard and struck him, and killed him. Thy servant killed both lion and this bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he has defied the army of the LIVING GOD. The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine
You must be confident, you must be positive, you must rely on your past victories, you must know that God is without any doubt a Deliverer in the time of your battle, in the time of your need, in the time of your situation, in the time of your circumstance, he never fails. As you began to arise above your situation you’ll come up out of your depression, you’ll overcame that anxiety, your reposition that stress and use it to your advantage in the upcoming battle against your giants.
In verses 38–39 Saul tried to give David some of the army protective wear, it didn’t fit, David was uncomfortable and felt at a disadvantage although he appreciates what the king was trying to do, he declined the offer.
Lot of people mean well and have great intentions, but, only you know what works best for you in any given situation in David’s case he only took five smooth stones and a sling and God’s protection and he step to opponent who disdained him, he felt Israel was making fun of him, sending a child to do a man’s job and curse David by his gods assuring himself of the victory making Israel servants of the Philistines [verses 38–47]
“then said David to Goliath, you come to me as and approved man or war, with weapons or a soldier, but, I come to you in the name of the Lord of host. The God of the armies of Israel who you have defied. This day will the Lord deliver you in my hand, and I will smite you, and will take your head from you, and I will give the bodies of the army of the Philistines this day unto fowls of the air (vultures) and to the wild beast of the earth: that all the earth may know, there is a God in Israel. And everyone here will know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into my hands and I will smite you and will take your head from you and I will give the bodies of the army of the Philistine this day unto the fouls of the air (vultures) and to the wild beast of the Earth: that all the Earth may know there is a God in Israel, and everyone here will know that the Lord sayeth not with sword and spear, for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you in my hands.
A powerful declaration with a positive outlook on what was to happen beforehand. When you know that you know, and that you have come to the only conclusion to your problem, situation, circumstance, you are now on your mountain opposite of your situation, out of the very of depression booted and suited for the Lord’s battle, which you will overcome with the assured victory as David prevailed over his giant, his Brother who slew Goliath Brother and many of David’s servants slew other giants, you are now able to slay your giants.
But unlike David when I enter battle with my giants, I have to get dressed for battle, you see I have to take unto me the whole armor of God, that I may be able to withstand in those evil days, and it’s a must in having done all that I can do, is to stand with my waist, belted with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness [Ephesian 6:14] faith and love [I thess.5:8] my feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, taking my shield of faith, which I’ll be able to Quench all the fiery darts of the enemy, I’ll put on my helmet of salvation [Eph.6:15–17] and hope [I Thess 5:8], the sword of the spirit, which is the word God, residing in a state of prayer, with a spirit of perseverance [Eph.6:17–19] now I’m ready for battle with my Giants. I am now a Giants slayer, I can and will do the impossible through Christ who strengthen me and in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us [Romans 8:37]
Now that I’m ready for battle, I gather strength by prayer and fasting, this is the foundation of my defense, I make the connect with my forces commanding General and Chief I give myself completely over to his guidance and instructions he has the battle plan for my victory, how can I lose with the plan he use.
I approach my giants, engage them in battle and I am victorious time and time again, I cut off the head of my giants, as they say, if you cut off the head the body will die. I bring that old head back and show that all my giants have been defeated, I am proud, I am not boastful but humble, I’m empowered with a love that can’t be defeated, it ables me to overcome all problems, circumstances, situations that I formerly thought were insurmountable giants in my life, but now I have the victory over any giants who come against me and I did it all through Christ Jesus the son of the living God. I am now a bonafide Giant Slayer, Slaying Giants in my life.
You too can become a giant slayer you can defeat your personal giants that are against you right now. Are you a victim or a victor? Do you want to overcome your problem, situations, circumstance, I invite you to let the mind of Christ Jesus prevail upon you, for the coming solution by prayer and fastening, then get up and get dress in the battle array of God, put on the whole armor and climb above your situation, circumstance, problem, imprisonment, let your giant know it is defeated, you have come to behead it, and it shall die. You are an overcomer, you are a giant slayer you are a victor not a victim, because you are a child of God whom empowers you with the victory go to your battle in the name of the most high God and I guarantee there can no giant stand against you ever again and you will keep on slaying giants in your life.
