ОглавлениеThere’s a special relationship that exists between fans and the films they love. For true fans, movies are more than just a plastic DVD case on the shelf or an iTunes playlist. Movies are a part of their identity, a lens they see the world through and, sometimes, a testament to how they live their lives.
Fans are the backbone of the entertainment industry. This core idea is what led to the formation of our company Legion M: an entertainment and media company, not merely dedicated to serving devoted film lovers, but owned by fans as well.
Our experiences over the past two years have driven home the degree to which fans are the lifeblood of the film industry. Many who work in Hollywood and who make the films we all love become jaded at the cynical demands of studio executives, or at cuts made to satisfy the whims of focus groups. But when a movie finds its audience, there’s no room for cynicism. As Ray Kinsella from Field of Dreams put it, when a film connects with a fan, “It’s as though all the cosmic tumblers have clicked into place and the universe opens itself up for a few seconds to show you what’s possible.”
We love movies and we love great quotes from those movies. You hold in your hands the very best kind of film quote book. In its pages, you will find lines that you already know by heart. But next to them, you may find others you can’t quite place, or from movies you have never seen. In this, the book is an invitation to see films you may have missed, or to reconnect with films you may have forgotten. Don’t worry if you’ve been stumped—take it as a challenge: go watch a movie!
Not only will you discover great films to watch, it will also help you find the right words for the right occasions—but that, in a way, still allow your own personality to shine through.
As Morpheus from The Matrix says, “There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.” Use these words. Mold them. Speak them. Enjoy them. Share them. Live them. Love them.
