Learn from panel interviews
ОглавлениеWhat is so instructive about a panel interview? Let’s start with the participants. The panel interview invites people to observe themselves and report about their observations. This often spontaneously leads to self-reflection. As a panel member, you’re encouraged to think about yourself. It’s often a pleasant, accessible, safe, inspiring, and even playful method to learn, practice, and structurally apply skills such as self-observation and reflection. Participating in a panel is often an instructive experience for that person. It deepens self-awareness because you’re asked to tell others how things work for you. In the attempt to share their experience in a way that others can understand, people learn by listening to themselves. In the end, the participants in the panel also learn from each other, maybe because a member has discovered their own blind spot that the other participants haven’t noticed yet.
The audience of a panel interview learns a great deal about the psychology of people with a certain Enneagram type. People often have assumptions about what is happening inside someone else's mind. In difficult situations, people are often surprised or annoyed or feel powerless and ask themselves what might drive another person. A panel interview might present an Enneagram type that doesn’t relate to you at all. When these people talk about what happens inside them, you get a chance to hear, directly from them, what motivates them deep inside — no hypotheses, no assumptions, and no theories about how they are, other than their own, authentic statements about how they experience their own truth and their own day-to-day lives and how they perceive the world.
