Lot
Оглавление“I’ve always put my lot with you.”
—Jim Jones
There is Christ and there is Anti-Christ. In what might sound like the words of Christ, Jim Jones declared that he was putting his lot with his community. Unfortunately, this didn’t turn out to be . Jones was pushing the community to a suicide that he would not fully emulate. When the time came, almost everyone in the community took a lethal dose of cyanide. Afraid of a similar death, Jones was found with a lethal bullet wound in his head. I can’t imagine Christ pushing people to a painful suicide and then taking an easier route. When someone tells you they’re with you, make sure they mean it. There’s nothing worse than finding out that someone is a liar than when your life is on the line.
Amen.
Jim Jones: And when one of my people do something, it’s me . . . . Understand, I don’t have to take the blame for this, but I don’t live that way. They said deliver up Jjara, who tried to get the man back here. Jjara, whose mother’s been lying on him and lying on him and trying to break up this family and they’ve all agreed to kill us by any means necessary. You think I’m going to deliver them Jjara? Not on your life. No.
Crowd: No! No!
Unidentified Man: Is there any way if I go, that it’ll help?
Jim Jones: No, you’re not going. You’re not going.
Crowd: No! No!
Jim Jones: Not going. I can’t live that way. I cannot live that way.
