Although neither the US nor Britain won the war, which lasted until 1815 in spite of its name, Americans did develop a greater sense of national identitynational identity and were able to pursue both expansionismexpansionism across the country as well as increasing isolationismisolationism towards Europe, a prime example of which is the Monroe DoctrineMonroe Doctrine.
