Appearance of chromosomes during cell division
ОглавлениеWhen a cell is preparing to divide, the DNA is progressively wound up tighter and tighter so that it begins to fold up upon itself into tight coils; this tightly wound-up DNA is much denser and thicker and condenses in the nucleus in the form of thread-like structures which are referred to as chromosomes. To help you visualise how chromosomes appear, attempt Activity 1.1.
