The Left Brain/Right Brain Dichotomy
ОглавлениеIt is scientifically established that the two hemispheres of the brain have different functions. The left hemisphere is responsible for tasks we think of as more male-oriented: linear, rational, logical thought. The left brain is the I, the independent thinker, the ego, which understands itself as separate from the rest of the world, an isolated part. This is where our competitive instinct comes from, as we feel we must fight for self-preservation; it is also where we feel fear and anger. The right brain is the more feminine aspect of the mind; the creative, nurturing, giving aspect. The right brain has no sense of self, ego or separation, it experiences the self only as part of the greater whole, in oneness and union. The right brain has no understanding of time, it occupies the infinite moment. The right brain is the genius inside all of us, a unique spark of creativity that has something unrivaled and extraordinary to offer to the world.
Western culture is left-brain dominant. Some of us may have developed our right hemispheres more than others, but all of us are ruled by the left brain, the notions of time and the fight for self-preservation being controlling factors in our lives. Tony Wright, an English raw fooder and consciousness researcher, has a theory that it was not always like this, that what is biblically known as the Fall was the point when man left paradise and became left-brain dominant. In order to achieve enlightenment, to recover our natural state of bliss and return earth to the paradise garden it once was, we must learn to balance the two hemispheres.
It is a startlingly simple concept, and one into which all paradigms fall. It doesn’t matter which religion, which psychoanalytical theory, which social or scientific model you look at, they all fit into this one simple paradigm. All the ills in the world can be whittled down to one cause: the repression of the right brain by the left.
I believe that raw foods stimulate the right brain; superfoods fire up the right brain, especially cacao. Meditation, yoga, chanting, and all creative and artistic pursuits, all help build new pathways in the brain which create a greater state of balance. As we move more into our right brains, we literally learn new ways of thinking. We begin to consider what is good for the whole in a given situation, not what will purely benefit ourselves. We operate less from a place of fear, poverty and scarcity, and more from a place of love, trust and abundance. Because we are tuning in to the universal mind or infinite being, synchronicities abound, and time and again things miraculously fall into place at the last moment. We are in the flow, and the flow is strong in us.
In my experience, eating superfoods is the surest and easiest way to build up the right brain and create new pathways. Cacao is the major way to do this, especially in combination with other superfoods containing rare trace minerals like Etherium Gold and Blue Manna. The longer we consume these foods on a daily basis, the more we open up to our inner worlds (the right brain), and are less constrained by society’s expectations of us, our left-brain programming.
