FOREWORD
ОглавлениеIn sport, as in life, being in the right place at the right time is so important. Prop forwards mature in the later part of their rugby lives, and Keith Pollard was no exception.
His career at Hull Kingston Rovers probably faltered because the time was not right.
During his time as a young player with the Robins, there were a number of other forwards competing for the prop positions, and Keith’s face perhaps just did not fit.
After learning more about his trade from Mick Clarke at Keighley, he went on to play his best rugby on the other side of the world, where he was truly appreciated.
But despite the fact that his time at Craven Park was not as successful as he would have hoped, he has retained his love for the club and has remained loyal to it. He cares deeply for the club and for the game in general, and has forthright opinions on both.
Keith is now a valued member of the Rovers’ Heritage Group, where he is always prepared to give his time to its varied activities, sharing his knowledge, views and memories across its audiences. Through this group, I have been privileged to enjoy his friendship and company over the last few years.
