Grammar Focus: Degrees of Comparison of Adjectives

1. Общая информация о степенях сравнения

Степени сравнения прилагательных используются для того, чтобы сравнивать людей, предметы и виды деятельности. В теме «Внеурочные занятия» они помогают сравнивать разные кружки, секции и занятия по уровню интереса, сложности и полезности.

В английском языке существуют три степени сравнения:

положительная, сравнительная и превосходная.

Примеры:

interesting – more interesting – the most interesting

easy – easier – the easiest

2. Сравнительная степень прилагательных

Сравнительная степень используется, когда сравниваются два объекта или вида деятельности.

Краткие прилагательные обычно образуют сравнительную степень с помощью окончания -er.

Примеры:

sport is healthier than watching TV

chess is easier than physics

Длинные прилагательные образуют сравнительную степень с помощью слова more.

Примеры:

art lessons are more creative than maths lessons

drama club is more interesting than debate club

Сравнение часто сопровождается словом than.

3. Превосходная степень прилагательных

Превосходная степень используется, когда один объект выделяется из группы и является наивысшим по какому-либо признаку.

Краткие прилагательные образуют превосходную степень с помощью -est и артикля the.

Примеры:

football is the most popular activity at our school

English club is the easiest option for beginners

Длинные прилагательные образуют превосходную степень с помощью the most.

Примеры:

music is the most relaxing activity

science club is the most challenging

4. Неправильные формы сравнения
