The Symbol
Eye of Kanaloa
The symbol on Brian’s left wrist fascinated me. I told him that I knew it and that I saw it in one of my visions. And that we had met before. He agreed and told me in return that I had been a Hawaiian goddess, later on a queen and a Kahuna of wisdom-teaching. I remembered. My cells were sending pictures to my brain. It was like a very fast movie from different lifetimes. The Kahuna was sharing his wisdom of love. The queen was peacefully holding her people together and the Hawaiian goddess was gathering plants for healing and for the Hula.
I felt embarrassed by what Brian said to me, but at the same time I had an inner knowledge, that it was true and that we both had met in that ancient time. Maui – that was his name – the big magician, trickster, demigod, miracle worker or bringer of luck. He was well known from one end of Polynesia to the other.
I was astonished.
Brian then started to talk about the symbol and its powerful and harmonizing energy.
“Kanaloa was the God of the Ocean in Hawaiian mythology. He was a healer and a close friend of Kane, the God of Creation. The name Ka-na-loa translates to ‘big peace’ or ‘big silence’. The word Kanaloa also means ‘big trust’. In the Huna tradition we also say that Kanaloa represents the core self, the source or the essence of everything, the center of the Universe inside of us. Every line in this symbol has a meaning and the wisdom of the old Hawaiian philosophy is stored in it. It’s really powerful.
My grandmother had it on her left wrist – and she was the one who tattooed it on my left wrist when I was fourteen years old. She was very special and I loved her dearly. A lot of Hawaiians came to see her for healing and she just touched them with her left hand – sometimes just five minutes, sometimes longer. The pain left and healing happened. Nobody asked her how it happened. It just did. I often watched her and felt her loving heart. She just wanted to help and support others – with a gift she received from her grandfather. I inherited her talent for healing with simple touches, which come directly from the heart.”
The old Hawaiians had a lot of wisdom and a lot to teach – just by being. They were masters of being present in the NOW.
And in fact – there is no other time than the NOW. Or is there?
