Sadie and Max woke up. Samantha announced she could not nap any longer either. All

the puppies were so excited to hear about the jobs they would do when they grew up.

“Now that we are all awake,” I said, “let’s talk about how special you all are, my pups,

and the importance of the jobs you will do. Do you know, you were each born to do a

very specific job? For example, my job is to help raise orphan puppies. Your dad had two

jobs. First, he was a veteran war dog. Daddy was what they called an explosion detection

dog or EDD. He had to sniff out chemicals that could have been bombs. Now that

daddy has returned home from Afghanistan, his job is to help the policemen in the K-9

unit. God made you for a very important reason and you will each have amazing jobs.”

Samantha asked, “What will I be?”

“You will be a very good family dog. You are sweet and gentle and will love your humans

very much and they will love you too. You will take care of them, protect them, and will
